Day 1 - Welcome to Cairo , Egypt
Welcome to Egypt! Raafat, your ‘Man in Cairo’, will check you in to the historic Oberoi Mena House. In the shadow of the Great Pyramids, this luxury hotel has welcomed kings, emperors and dignitaries since 1869. Enjoy your deluxe Pyramid-View Room and the hotel’s beautifully landscaped, jasmine-scented gardens.
Day 2 - The Great Pyramids and more!
This will be a day to remember as you set out to explore some of the most wondrous monuments on the planet. The Great Pyramids are truly breathtaking in size and elegant in proportion. Like countless before, you’ll ponder the enigmatic Sphinx. Survey the first capital, Memphis , and see King Zoser’s Step Pyramid, the oldest stone structure of man on Earth. Day 3 - Fly to Aswan and Embark the Zahra
Depart on a morning flight to Aswan to board your distinguished luxury river vessel, the Oberoi Zahra. In the afternoon, step aboard a felucca, a traditional river craft, for a delightful excursion to the Botanical Garden. Meals B,L,D
Day 4 - Excursion to Abu Simbel
This morning, you will fly to Abu Simbel to discover the remarkable temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari, rescued more than 30 years ago from the rising waters of the Aswan High Dam by the United States. The colossal figures of King Ramses II, 67 feet tall, are truly breathtaking, and you’ll grasp the enormity of the engineering feat that raised this temple nearly 200 feet away from the rising waters. In mid-afternoon, back at Aswan, visit the High Dam, the famous Unfinished Obelisk, still attached to bedrock, and Philae Temple - dedicated to the Goddess Isis. Day 5 - From Kom Ombo to Edfu
Sail to Kom Ombo to visit the unusual twin temple honoring Horus, the falcon-headed Sun God and Sobek, the Ptolemaic Crocodile God. Continue to Edfu, where you discover the best preserved temple of the ancient world, also dedicated to Horus. There’s time before dinner for an appointment in the ship’s elegant spa. Meals B,L,D
Day 6 - On to Luxor
As you cruise to Luxor, relax on deck and witness the timeless rhythms of life along the Nile or enjoy a pampering treatment in the ship’s spa. After your mid-afternoon arrival in Luxor, you’ll take a fascinating guided tour of the beautiful temples at Luxor and the nearly two mile long Avenue of Sphinxes. Meals B,L,D
Day 7 - Explore ancient Thebes and the Valley of the Kings
Spend a memorable morning in ancient Thebes , known for its temples and tombs of the Middle Kingdom. Your sightseeing focuses on the West Bank, Temple of Madinat Habu, the famed Colossi of Memnon and the Valley of Kings - where you enter richly decorated tombs hidden for centuries amid the desert sands. Tonight, you will be taken to the spellbinding Sound and Light Show at the magnificent Temple of Karnak, an enormous complex dedicated to Amun-Ra, the preeminent God over all other deities of ancient Egypt. Day 8 - Sail to Quina
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as the ship sails to Quina. In the afternoon travel to Dendara for an exclusive, privately-arranged tour of the temple - dedicated to Hathor, Goddess of Maternity, Love and Music. Day 9 - Back to Luxor
An early morning sailing brings you back to Luxor for an escorted excursion to the Nobles Tomb and Dair El Madina, site of an ancient workmen’s village for the craftsmen who built and decorated many of the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings. The afternoon is at leisure to explore Luxor at your own pace, or you might take advantage of the spa time onboard ship. Meals B,L,D
Day 10 - Disembark and return to Cairo
Disembark after breakfast and transfer to Luxor Airport for the short flight to Cairo. On arrival, your escorted sightseeing tour showcases ancient Cairo – from the Egyptian Museum, with the treasures of Tutankhamen, to the Coptic quarter and the medieval Citadel of Salah El-Din. You’ll also enjoy time to weave through the bustling Khan el Khalili bazaar, packed with exotic goods and all kinds of crafts and souvenirs. This evening, you’ll enjoy luxurious accommodations in a River-View Prestige Suite at the stylish Sofitel el Gezirah, set on a Nile island in the very heart of Cairo. Meals B
