Step ashore in Edfu to visit the remarkable Temple of Haroeris, rich in design, intricate in detail, ingenious in its construction. Haroeris, the falcon-headed Sun God, was one of the oldest forms of the deity Horus and his temple had daily importance to the ancient Egyptians; this prominence is reflected in the extraordinary quality of every element and detail here. This is one of the best preserved temples in Egypt - with its great pylon, exterior walls, courts, halls and sanctuary all virtually intact; the carvings here are marvelous depictions of ancient mythology.
